ARRIVAL
If you are travelling to La Gomera for the first time, the journey can sometimes be a little more complicated and time-consuming. I always recommend the comfortable and very cheap shuttle transfer of Autobuses Mesa. They pick you up at Tenerife airport, take you to the ferry port and then to the holiday destination of your choice. And the best thing is: the ferry tickets are already included in the price. It couldn't be cheaper and more easy!
RENTAL CAR
You can rent a car at Tenerife South Airport or in Valle Gran Rey. CICAR also allows you to take your rental car with you to La Gomera - not all providers offer this option (please check). But also in Valle Gran Rey there are some small providers where you can rent a car at cheap rates. I like to recommend Autos Mulagua or Rentacar Garajonay, which can be found in the district of Vueltas.
FERRY LA GOMERA
The two shipping companies Fred Olsen and ARMAS offer a direct ferry connection from Tenerife to La Gomera. These also run very regularly, but a maximum of 3 times a day. Especially on (local) public holidays, you should check again shortly before your trip to see if the ferry times are still up to date. You can easily book tickets online, but you can also buy them at the ferry port in Los Cristianos (Tenerife) and San Sebastian. For this you need a passport or your identity card.
BUS LA GOMERA
On La Gomera, the stately bus company "GuaGuaGomera" ensures that the individual small towns are connected with each other. The buses on La Gomera do not run quite as often as in Germany, but you can rely on a regular connection to almost all communities. Especially on (local) public holidays or at the weekend, you should find out exactly when which bus goes where to avoid nasty surprises. We recommend that you always take a jumper with you on the bus, as the air conditioning is usually set to the highest level.
Whale Watching trips on La Gomera
If you spend your holiday on La Gomera, you should definitely go on a whale watching trip! The annual sighting rate is almost 90% and more than 24 different species of whales and dolphins have been sighted and identified off the coast of La Gomera in recent years. The best time to visit is in spring, when there is almost a 100% chance of sightings. Bottlenose dolphins, Spotted dolphins, Pilot whales and also Bryde's or Sperm whales can be seen at regular intervals during the trips, but unfortunately there is no guarantee!

Book early and save money
Especially during the holiday periods and the high season, which in El Guro usually starts in December and lasts until after Easter, I recommend booking your accommodation early.
